President’s Message

Fall 2026

As summer winds down and another school year gets underway, I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy some time to relax, recharge, and spend time with family and friends.

For many of us, summer is anything but a break. Between summer meal programs, planning for the upcoming year, hiring and training staff, and preparing our kitchens, there is always plenty to keep us busy. Thank you to everyone who worked throughout the summer to make sure Michigan’s children continued to have access to nutritious meals.

Now, as we settle into the new school year, we know that the familiar challenges of school nutrition are once again in front of us. New students, new staff, new regulations, and the daily demands of serving our communities remind us just how important the work we do truly is.

Our profession matters. Every meal served, every student welcomed, and every challenge overcome makes a difference in the lives of the children we serve.

As we look ahead, I am especially excited about our upcoming SNAM Annual Conference in Kalamazoo this November. This is a great opportunity to step away from the daily routine, connect with fellow school nutrition professionals, share ideas, and learn from one another.

Whether you are a longtime SNAM member or someone who is just getting started in school nutrition, I encourage you to take advantage of everything our association has to offer. The relationships we build and the knowledge we share make all of us stronger.

I look forward to seeing many of you in Kalamazoo and continuing the important work we do together to support school nutrition across Michigan.

Have a great start to the school year, and thank you for everything you do!
