Hello School Nutrition Leaders,
As we reach the midpoint of our year together, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work happening across Michigan and to thank you for the dedication you continue to bring to your programs each day. It remains an honor to serve as President of the School Nutrition Association of Michigan and to represent such a passionate and committed group of professionals.
Over the past several months, I have seen firsthand the strength of our community. From adapting to ongoing operational challenges to finding new and creative ways to serve students, your resilience continues to shine. You are not only meeting the needs of your school communities, but you are also setting the standard for what school nutrition can and should be. The care, consistency, and innovation you bring to your work make a lasting impact on students and families across our state.
This spring has been especially busy and impactful for SNAM. In March, members had the opportunity to connect and learn at both the Legislative Action Conference (LAC) and our Industry Conference, two valuable events that strengthened our knowledge, partnerships, and shared commitment to the profession. In mid-April, many of you also participated in our Day of Action in Lansing, advocating for Michigan School Meals and ensuring that the voices of school nutrition professionals were heard. These efforts are critical in advancing policies that support our programs and the students we serve.
SNAM has continued to make meaningful progress this year in supporting you. Our committees have been actively working to expand professional development opportunities, strengthen communication, and advocate on your behalf. Whether you’ve participated in trainings, connected with peers, or engaged in advocacy efforts, your involvement helps move our mission forward.
As we look ahead to the second half of the year, I encourage you to stay connected and continue engaging with SNAM. There are still many opportunities to learn, share, and grow together. If you haven’t yet gotten involved, now is a great time to do so—your voice and perspective are important.
And of course, I hope you are planning to join us for our Annual Conference this November in Kalamazoo. It will be another valuable opportunity to come together, learn from one another, and celebrate the important work you do.
Thank you again for your continued commitment to serving Michigan’s students with care and excellence. Your work matters more than ever, and I am grateful to be part of this community with you.
With appreciation,
John Galacz
President, School Nutrition Association of Michigan
